Am I Eligible?

To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

• Have no access to private dental insurance or coverage.

• Have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000.

• Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

• Have filed your income tax return for the previous year.

Application & Renewal Status

The initial phased age rollouts are complete. The program is fully open to all eligible Canadian residents of any age.

• New Applicants: Applications for the current benefit year are open. You can apply online via your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) or by phone.

• Existing Members: Annual renewals must be completed by June 1st each year to avoid coverage interruptions. If you miss the annual renewal deadline, you must submit a new application, which may cause a temporary gap in your dental coverage.

Essential Plan Details

The CDCP is managed by Sun Life. Once your application is approved, you will receive a welcome package with your member card and coverage start date.

Please keep the following in mind before booking your appointment:

• It is not a free program: Depending on your adjusted family net income, you may be responsible for a co-payment of up to 60%.

• Additional fees: Patients are responsible for paying any balance or outstanding costs that the CDCP fee schedule does not fully cover.

• Preauthorizations: Standard treatments like cleanings, X-rays, and fillings are covered. However, advanced services (such as crowns, extensive sedation, or partial dentures) require preauthorization approval before treatment can begin.
